For once I'll creep out of my little corner and post elsewhere.
I had a full blown panic attack tonight. I still don't feel very well. I hate these things. What's super weird is that I have no idea why it happened tonight. Usually I get them because I'm out in public and I start worrying about stuff or something. Today I was just in my room though. Sitting at my desk. Posting on SW. What the fuck, brain?
I always feel like I'm about to die, and I want to run out and ask someone for help. But I don't. Because I'm too embarrassed. I hate how tight and heavy my chest feels. I always take my bra off because I feel like it contributes to the pain, but when it doesn't get better, I feel like I need a knife to cut whatever is hurting in my chest. I hate that I don't remember to breathe. It feels like I'm being asphyxiated. So I panic even more.
Do panic attacks make you feel dysfunctional? Like what the hell is wrong with me? They make me want to quit life. I'm not normal.

@Nadie That's certainly an anxiety attack. They're not pleasant at all. You're not abnormal to have them though, roughly 6 million adults in the US have them. Women are twice as statistically likely as men.
@UndeadPrivateer Well maybe, but they're still scary and you still feel alone. At least I do.

@Nadie Yep, that they are. I get them a lot. Have you talked to a doc about them at all?
@UndeadPrivateer No. I'm allergic to doctors.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Nadie Depression and anxiety are serious business. You really should see about your options for seeing a psych doc if you can, doing so was one of the best decisions I made regarding my mental health. Untreated it will only get worse and can lead to very, very bad places.
@UndeadPrivateer Yeah. My goal for 2018 is to go to a doctor.

@Nadie Hi, I’m so sorry I was asleep when you posted this
To go back to your original questions:
Absolutely, there is this feeling of embarrassment and not wanting to face anyone who may have seen you or just might judge you and wanting to just disappear from the world
This isn’t uncommon at all, as @UndeadPrivateer said, many people face them and most who have had them will have multiple in there lives
@JRVanguard It's okay. I mostly posted here because I remembered seeing it on your page and was too lazy to search for an appropriate group.

@Nadie Well Thank you for thinking of me
How are you feeling today?
@JRVanguard I'm good. I didn't feel too great this morning, but I think I'm okay now.
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
@Nadie Well I’m glad to hear that
No exceptionally bad anxiety today?
@JRVanguard no. i'm doing nothing today, so it's helping. xD
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
@Nadie Nice relaxing day😌
Sounds nice
@JRVanguard i hope you're doing well too.
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
@Nadie Oh Thank you, I’m doing great!
Just got back from class and it was a pretty fun class, we built wall frames today
@JRVanguard what is a wall frame? O.o
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
@Nadie So we took wood and made a bunch of walls out of them

This is a few of the 16 total we built, we need to make 9 more next week
@JRVanguard oh. this is exactly what my head thought of but didn't think it could be right. xD

@Nadie It was a pain in the ass to make but it was a nice change of place and cool to do
