So you're anti-vax. Why?

What good evidence-based reason do you have for endangering yours and other people's children?

I work in medicine and I love all the benefits new technology brings, yet I am very cautious of medication in particular. Just one session at my ambulance unit about the effects of just a couple of medicines and it took over an hour to present. I prefer to keep myself healthy with a good diet and exercise routine, medicine a last resort. I took roaccutane for several months and I really think it did damage, I know chemists that have said they were offered the same medication and they strongly declined.

Of course, being educated in biology, I know of the benefits of vaccinations. I know that the insertion of an inactive strain of a virus allows the body to learn how it works to later fight it off. Edward Jenner was one of my favourite scientists. But the drugs industry that provide these vaccinations are incredibly corrupt. I live in Europe, and I know of medications that were banned in the US due to the side effects which were dumped into the health services of my country. I am all in favour of vaccines which are properly screened, I'd encourage children to have them for all manner of viruses etc. But with the terrible screening of vaccines, I'd be cautious.

@Celine Ah, well I'm not the type to blanket term and dismiss all different ideas as a "conspiracy" to avoid using my brain to deal with differing ideas. In fact, I hate that. I think it is stupid. It is certainly no conspiracy over here in the UK that certain drugs have been dumped into our medical services when they were banned in the US for their side effects. For example, the medication I regret taking has been banned in many countries. As someone that works in medical biology I can assure you that there have been plenty of scandals in the drug trade.

@Celine Oh, of course. The polio vaccine is like a modern day miracle. I cannot deny that vaccines do what it says on the tin, I am in favour of the science. But as you agree, the big companies don't screen them properly, or even they do screen them and find bad side effects, they continue on and put millions into hiding inconvenient truths. What do I think is the answer? The large amounts of money we give to talentless actors and "musicians", put it into medical research.

@Celine The problem with that is: The entertainment industry is people's escape. A lot don't like to face the world, they don't want the effort of improving science etc, it's easier to watch a screen and see perfect people on tv, feeling like you are one of them. So, they are willing to pour all this money into the entertainment industry. Every so often, the celebrities etc will donate a bit to cancer charity or something, but i know it is superficial.

@Celine I don't like Rowling one bit. I enjoyed Harry Potter, but her actions as a person: NO.

And I agree. My country is in such a financial mess and they give hundreds of thousands to brutes of men chasing balls around. I've sat in the rain game after game with my ambulance crew, not a single penny given to any of us, we aren't even given food, we have to buy an overpriced hotdog, whilst the players are given several hundred grand to run around and make stupid face and arm movements. I don't see why people would invest such time and money into it (well, I understand the primal and tribal reasons), but humanity should have moved past that by now.

@Celine You'd probably like a lot of the disinfo she tweets. I try to say that as nicely as possible lol. Though she has been busted on them (but won't apologize).

In many cases, I wouldn't even call it "entertaining". I know what I'm about to say does not strictly overly link with this, but I'll say it anyway. My parents encouraged me to pursue classical training on the piano as a professional hobby. I have so many qualifications and rewards in the subject. Yet I cannot find work in it whatsoever. Pubs, if they have a piano at all, wouldn't pay me. People wanting to learn are hard to find (i suppose the music industry doesn't have actual musicians to inspire them). Yet millions will get thrown at a woman with a mediocre voice taking her clothes off, or some bearded pretty boy drenched in tattoos making noises on a computer. In both cases, the actual music ability part seems to have been completely missed out. And call it a crazy conspiracy theory, but I think the leaders of the music industry consciously promote people without talent so the talented can't beat them at their game.

@Celine Yeah, looking at some of the "music" out now, you could literally play two chords and talk over it, and as long as it's recorded with a 4k camera, has a record label and some young bearded men and a skinny woman in the video, it will climb the charts.

@Celine I'm a musician but I listen to less "music" than most non musicians xD I also sent you a research task on PM!
