If someone skips breakfast, and does not eat and gets no calories until 3 pm, would their body eat their muscle mass?

You and everyone else has body fat for a reason. You would have to be severely under weight before muscle mass is lost due to lack of food. Plus other problems would occur as well like dizziness or fainting.

BTW I have had a BMI under 18 before. That is severely under weight.

@DeWayfarer I forgot to say after fat, I went down to 12 stone and lost big thighs, legs now look like matchsticks

@NorthLondoner if your BMI (Body Mass Index) is still above 20, I really wouldn't worry about it.

Plenty of sites that can figure out your BMI. Yet metric measurements are often required.

BMI = weight (kg) / (height (m))^²
