Big shake up in the FDA

- Dr. Tracy Beth Hoeg will be replaced as FDA's acting drug center director by Dr. Mike Davis.

- This follows firings or resignations by FDA Commissioner Marty Makary and Dr. Vinay Prasad, the agency’s vaccine and biotech chief.

- Hoeg was closely aligned with Makary and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. She first gained notoriety during the pandemic as a critic of masking, school closures, vaccine mandates and other government measures. She had no previous experience in government or management experience.

Will any of these changes in leadership have any effect on the disastrous turn that has befallen the CDC & FDA since the Trump administration took office? It’s hard to say, but there’s no clear indication that much will change.
