How fast can someone become seriously ill?

I know someone who was their normal self, that can exercise for HOURS but was just extra sleepy...

Then less than two full days later, they couldn't get up out of their standard normal chair without assistance. 🥺

I'm scared for them...

My step father's leg was being weird, he couldn't use it and all he could do was drag it so he thought it was a result of his back issues. He went to the dr and about a month later, he was gone. Cancer was everywhere.
