Likely to be acid reflux. You need acid in your stomach to digest your foods but some foods or conditions may result in you having too much acid. As such, it makes it's way up your oesophagus and results in a 'burning' called 'heartburn'.
Could be a reaction to food or food combinations or could be as a result of stress (other conditions may apply).
If you get it all the time, you can take prescribed meds to help with it. If you get it periodically, Tums/Gaviscon/Rennies will help or I find that cold milk can sometimes ease the symptoms

@UKNaturist I would have to disagree. on the contrary what you described is what we are conditioned to believe. When you DON'T have enough stomach acid the stomach has a difficult time digesting the its contents and kicks it back up to restart the process. When it leaves the stomach and reenters the esophogus to come back down is when you feel the burn, hence heartburn. The pathway to the stomach is not lined the same way the stomach is therefore the strong acids give you a burning sensation all the way up to your throat. The stomache needs to be highly acidic to properly break down food.

@LubbbbbbbbuuDubbbbbbuuu You are eating, and or drinking, the wrong foods or liquids. Are you taking prescription drugs? If so, read about their side effects.
Do you drink such things as orange juice? Do you sleep on your right side?
Make notes of what you eat and drink and you may be able to identify what is causing the acid reflux. If you continue to belch acid you may require a video scope exam of your throat and esophagus to see if you are developing uclers.

If you don't feel it usually. It can be due to indigestion, caused maybe due to inadequate sleep. You might be knowing the reason better.
