Getting used to hearings aids again

So, got new hearing aids. I'm hard of hearing, have been since 12 years old. Always worn it on and off, sometimes mostly off as i never wanted to listen to the kids at my age, and over the years i used them less and less because well, i ended up as a shut in... so, if no one talks to me, why would i need to wear them, right?

But now, with the new hearing aids in both ears. Conversation is ... so, so. I mean, i don't have to say what did you say or repeat it please. It does help out a lot now that I'm socializing, plus hearing the TV is a plus. No more turning it up to 50, now its just set at 10

I can understand, I'm similar but with glasses.
Never really worn them my whole life, apart from periods, whereas I could actually see the world and faces of people.
But I get by living in this foggy surroundings.
It's not terrible but it is. I've learnt to navigate through recognising another's movement and overall posture and so I can tell who's who if someone's standing few meters away.
Then, I don't care much to see and recognise everyone. I mean, when people are getting closer within my seeing velocity, then I can see them.
But mind me, there're some very rare days where I can see really far and everything is clear.

But I bet with hearing is different.
It creates implications in communication in very different ways. I'm glad to read your story.
I hope it will be a new reality of some sort for you.
I know what you mean.
Just switched my hearing aids last Tuesday.
