Reiki is more commonly known in North American homeopathic medical practice as 'Therapeutic Touch'.

@swirlie could be similar but Reiki pulls energy from the universe, so I would be a channel for energy from the universe into my body and channel it to the person I’m working on. I don’t know that therapeutic touch channels energy from the universe.

Plus, I don’t have to touch a person in order to give them Reiki

I was just asking a Therapeutic Touch person about this very thing and she said that it's universe-based as you say, but that the fingers and palms of the therapist are actually hovered over the patient's body, almost touching it but not quite, but then extracts negative energy from that person's body by using energy to draw it out and then dispersing that negative energy back into the air. At least that was my understanding of it.

@swirlie can you ask them if there has to be an attunement from one practitioner to the other in addition to the course? so it would be like the teacher-practitioner does a bit of a ritual on the student in order to open up a portal for them to channel the energy. I am not familiar with this therapeutic touch so I’m interested to know more about it. I’ve just never heard it called therapeutic touch.

I'll speak for myself in saying, what we've been talking about is a much higher plane of conscious awareness than what one would normally experience, more so than it being a supernatural plane.

Where we as humans typically hang out in body-form, is at a very low-vibrational, hence very low frequency state of conscious awareness.

Different experiences in life exist on different planes of vibrational frequency, meaning that the higher the frequency we operate on, the closer one comes to the highest frequency of all, which is the frequency of white light.

Of course, we never actually arrive at the frequency of white light because our physical body is dense and kinda drags us down like pulling a trailer full of bricks behind your car!
