Have to use speech to text or type with my non-dominant hand, which is not easy..

Just wanted to let the friends who I shared this with know that my procedure went unbelievably well, and according to the surgeon, I had better results than the “normal results” he gives. He also said that in the over 25 years he’s been doing this that he has never seen anyone but me be fully awake and aware w/the two strong sedatives they give 🤣 Then when I questioned my nurse as to why the others after me looked like they were put to sleep for theirs and I wasn’t, she said they had the same exact sedatives as me only they gave me extra and I still wasn’t reacting to it 🤣 They said its possible the prednisone for the contrast allergy did it..

I literally felt a tool touching my heart 😖 I told the dr I thought something was wrong cause it felt like something was physically pushing on my heart and he said oh that’s just me 🤯

His answer as to my half of my heart wasn’t moving during the stress test was the weight of my breast. He said everything he saw was in more than great shape. I apparently have beautiful arteries as I heard him say 2xs calling others to see before he knew I was as aware as I was.

My mom still feels I'm a “shit eater” 🙄 and doesn’t think it’s right the surgeon told me to change nothing but avoid the meds that affect my bp and hr. I don’t eat that bad, if anything I over eat so many veggies and drink so much water that they prob cancel out the unhealthy things I occasionally eat.

Swollen and bruised.. Was told I needed someone with me 24/7 for at least a couple of days to make sure I don’t bleed out the artery, but they think if I keep it still and straight I should be good. If it doesn’t stop bleeding in 10mins of when/if it starts they said I have to call an ambulance only that they’d be prepared to stop it before I could get to a hospital.

All in all, the scariest time of this year for me ended in the best possible way it could. Fingers crossed nothing else is going on at the cardio follow up and my mri of the back mass is benign when they say it’s safe to do.

Thank you all who have been there and listened, wished me well and checked on me so much ❤️❤️❤️

Congrats on a successful procedure. You have nerves of steel.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you continue to heal, and for the back mass to be benign. God bless.🙂

@SethGreene531 Thank you very much. I think Wednesday is the mri, but not sure how long the results will take to get back.
@MellyMel22 You're quite welcome.
Try and have a friend/relative go with you, if possible.

I've had 3 so far ..1 per year; waiting for results is always the hardest part.

Best wishes for Wednesday. 🙏

@SethGreene531Thanks.. I’ve actually had more than I can count. My head alone was more than I can remember. I had/have a few things they had to keep an eye on. I was told I acquired an allergy to the contrast, b/c I never had one before it started and I had contrast plenty of times before- so that’s the hold up. I have to be premeditated and since I have an allergy to the contrast used for the procedure, I have to wait 2 weeks to allow the meds to work correctly.
@MellyMel22 Wow, that's a lot to go through.😞

From what I've heard, contrast allergies are common, and can occur even in patients without previous history. A bad way to find out!
So premedicating is wise, rather than having a reaction in procedure.

My relative just had a contrast CT scan. They were nauseous and dizzy, but didn't get hives or anaphylaxis, thankfully.

@SethGreene531 They're actually very rare allergies! And my allergist told me it’s even more rare that you have an allergy to the mri and CT contrast like I do.

They say to drink a lot of water after even if you aren’t allergic. The radiologist told me the next time would likely be fatal given it’s known to be worse second time. So I have to have it done at the hospital. The last I had done I was premeditated by the allergist and then the radiologist said he didn’t trust it was enough and gave me more which was not fun to be loaded up with so much prednisone- what I already had kept me awake all night 😒 I didn’t sleep for two days!! My allergist was pissed when I told him they made me take more.
@MellyMel22
Interesting, wacky immune systems go haywire at the slightest thing.
I may have to get one done this year also. My allergies are getting worse and react to everything. So the contrast dye issue will be a conversation my Dr. and I must have.

That's what I'd thought also: if you're going to have a reaction, I agree the hospital's the safest place; given how severe it can be.

Prednisone, whoa. That's a heavy hitter. Good for serious asthma attacks and other allergic reactions. I used to get it prescribed when I was young.

What an ordeal!! I'm sorry you had to go through all that. No wonder your allergist was angry!

@SethGreene531 Thank you.. Yeah, he was mad b/c that’s his specialty and the dr basically was acting as if he didn’t trust his opinion. I was also on 3 allergy meds on top of it.

My last visit to get the meds my allergist said good luck on the way out 😒 I said that’s not very funny 🙄

I think it’s like .4% of people are allergic to mri contrast, it might be for CT contrast though.

@MellyMel22 Specialists take it personally when doctors outside their field, second guess their judgement. That is aggrevating.

As are flippant remarks like " break a leg" or "good luck" to a patient.
Inappropriate, I agree.🙄

Interesting read. The odds of a reaction are slim. Especially with MRI.
Nevertheless, good call to have it administered in hospital, especially if the 2nd contrast dose can be the most severe.

Overall, looks like you're in good hands.

@SethGreene531 Agreed..

Those chances are for those who would have an allergic reaction out of everyone. But it’s more likely for later too again with meds.

I better be 🤣 I think it’ll be okay. I hate this hospital though, they don’t have a good rep.
