How do you get doctors to listen to you?

I have physical signs and my bloodwork reveals something isn't right. I'm having some other tests done, but because of insurance, they have to be done in a certain order and it takes forever. Months between. And in the meantime I keep getting more depressed because I'm in so much pain. Something or a few things aren't right.

What I'm experiencing is ruining my life.

Yet my brand new primary says, "I'm not worried about it."...

Wtf does that mean? I'm worried about it! I have almost no quality of life left and I get blown off?

How do you get docs to listen to you? How do you get them to care or do something? It's in black and white that my body is fighting itself. You diagnosed me fibromyalgia and said too bad.

I don't want to fall apart. I'm young and my son is young and I don't have any help at all. Why won't anyone take me seriously?

I’m so very sorry you’re going through this. I know you’re on your own which makes the situation even more challenging. The only thing that comes to mind is checking to see if there is a patient advocate you can access to help you navigate the healthcare system.

Was just skimming through this article:

GoodRx Health: What is a patient advocate and how can they help me?

Wish I could think of more, I just hate this for you. 😔

@OlderSometimesWiser I will definitely look that up because I've had enough. If I'm not assertive enough I'm blown off. If I'm more assertive they think I'm after pain meds. I don't know what to do anymore. But I'm failing. Hard.

I need to be there for my son. It is infuriating to be blown off knowing I can't be the mom I want to be because of these issues.
@SW-User It’s incredibly difficult to take on the healthcare system under normal circumstances, let alone when you’re vulnerable and not feeling well. I truly hope you can track down someone who can advocate for you. Not only do you need it but you DESERVE it!
