Management meetings completed for another week, now team meeting!

There are so many needs for strategy meetings just now to remain cost-effective that i wonder we don't have an extra day of work on Saturdays! The whole morning given over to these meetings, makes Monday afternoons feel a little too rushed, trying to implement decisions which are sometimes changed by Wednesday. I think lots of businesses may have a similar experience, but we are the research and development wing of this laboratory, and the full use of the lab depends on us, our getting things lined up, soldiers on a parade ground, so things are effective financially speaking.

Fortunately, although we all have to be aware of costs, and being effective, I am not the manager in the front line in utilisation of these resources. My team are purely R&D. It suits me, and the current protocols are looking successful (to date), so I might be able to put in again for some time off (I cancelled the last time off I had booked at the eleventh hour) to go and meet my Mum for a long weekend together. She has suggested Geneva, since we both like the city. I understood immediately I would have further to travel than her, but it's actually further for Mum to come, by a little under three hundred kilometres or so.

Mum doesn't mind flying, but even though I will fly, I prefer not to have to. I have a lot of hang-ups from the effects of my PTSD.
