My take on it is that it's 2024. I'm not threatened by someone different from me using the same bathroom as me, or getting changed in the same locker room. I'm not threatened by nudity either.
Those things don't make sense.
They are human and need a space. I'd rather they use the same.space that I am then somewhere else where someone might bully them or not have a space at all.
That being said, I think most planet fitnesses have private changing areas. Sometimes they have one that's gender neutral. And the other rep that is gender specific. And it's your choice where you go. And they have a policy in place for any bad behavior. So I think they did a pretty good job on the policy and mailing spaces to make everyone comfortable and have choices
Now, I think most people against shared spaces worry about sexual harassment or violence or have never changed in front of anyone. Again it's 2024. I'd do my best to just kick the shit out of anyone and call the police to report it.
Out of all my experiences in bathrooms and locker rooms and around people in general. It's straight males being pervs and attempt shit.
And also straight women that are most likely to do stuff like stare through the stupid big ass cracks they put in stalls in America or stare at you weirdly while you change or shower. Just weird.
If I can deal with that shit, then why would I care about trans people. They are just people same as anyone else.
I think if we're going to go for inclusivity so everyone has a space and privacy and safety as equally important. Then perhaps everything should be private individual stalls. And we should have harsher laws for people that assault and harass and rape or take nude photos of others without permission.
I do understand that not everyone is comfortable with change and have fears. Hopefully compromises can be talked about so everyone regardless of who they are can feel safe and have a place if they need to change/shower/toilet. Rather then focus on hating someone for existing or being too petty.
