He was proven right again

@MrBrownstone kinda makes you wonder if covid was over counted. Heard of a case where a man died of gun shot but also had covid. Guess where he was counted
@Patriot96 That was the practice. It meant getting money.
The unexpected but welcome plummeting of influenza cases during the COVID-19 pandemic “certainly showed that many of the social-distancing things we were doing were very effective,” Vanderbilt University School of Medicine infectious disease and health policy professor William Schaffner, MD, said in an interview.

On top of mask wearing, social distancing, and handwashing, Schaffner noted, most international travel was halted and many countries closed schools, keeping children—“the great engine of the distribution of influenza virus”—at home and away from each other.

“It’s impossible to tease out which of those had the biggest effect,” epidemiologist Alicia Budd, MPH, of the CDC’s Influenza Division, said in an interview.

Despite these mitigation measures, COVID-19 continued to spread, demonstrating that SARS-CoV-2 is much more contagious than the influenza virus, Schaffner added.

“Obviously, since we’re now all opening up and going back to school, we anticipate that these old methods of spreading the flu virus will come into play this fall,” he said.
JAMA. 2021;326(10):899-900. doi:10.1001/jama.2021.14131

@AbbySvenz I do remember thinking that there's no way there could be a flu season during the pandemic, and there wasn't, really. I also recall my doctor saying at the time in regards to Covid, "6 feet isn't enough. Even 60 feet isn't enough".

@uncalled4 well he was wrong. So much for another EXPERT

MD =/= Epidemiologist @Patriot96

@MrBrownstone Is that accurate? Perhaps, COVID is no more contagious than the flu. The flu is also very contagious. Certainly, COVID produced more deaths. I've had 2 relatives to die from COVID.

@MrBrownstone Cloth face coverings. Still better than nothing, but aerosolized droplets—to which virus particles cling, and are a main source of transmission— are larger than smoke particles.

No, cloth masks and even N-95 respirators will not catch the virus itself, and nobody claimed they would. But the virus does not float about in the air on its own, but hitches rides on aerosolized bodily fluids produced from a cough or sneeze.

@AbbySvenz didn’t Trump tell people to get the vaccine? I can say .100 microns is about as thick as a human hair or .004 thousand for American people. Think the mask was more for trying to catch as most as possible from coming out the mouth and nose. I hated them but it was nice when people didn’t get close to you in public
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
@chillout17 only the N 95 would have been effective. The paper masks just krrp us from drooling on patients

@Patriot96 I know about the N95 effectiveness and its capabilities of particular size. I am more than aware of the true size of things, it’s apart of my job. I didn’t like them but had to wear them for my job. Was also given paper work during shut downs to allow me to continue to go to work and through out town. I know people will argue all day about it but I know some really healthy people that died from it and some people that are far from healthy not die of it. I am just glad things have calmed down but things like this will never go away.

Right. We know cloth masks aren’t as effective as other type. @Patriot96

@MrBrownstone The numbers never lie.

@Patriot96 obviously you know nothing of science or medicine. I’m actually a bit shocked at your lack of knowledge!
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
@Handfull1 i know a little more than you. Im a BSN working ER

@Patriot96 then open your eyes next time! And you have no idea what I do! 🙄🙄
