If I treated myself the way I treat those I love

I was thinking about that lately. Not just doing survival stuff like forcing myself to eat and hydrate despite how I’m feeling; but what if I went “out of my way” to do things for myself the way I would for people I love (even when I felt sick). So treatment is rough and I can’t eat much, but why not cook the few things I can eat?

I did today, and it made me feel really happy. It’s very different. Granted, I messed some of it up and got a few bites that were overly salty, but the rest was great. Overall, even though it was just from myself, the care felt nice and the effort mattered. Went from telling myself “just hurry up and get something to eat because I don’t want to end up in the hospital again” to “let’s do this because you’re worth the effort.”

It makes me wonder. If you talked to people you love the way you talk to yourself, how would they feel?

Yup we're so worried about others we don't think of ourselves. Great post

So true! Thank you! We should not forget to mother ourselves the way we mother others. You sound like a kind person!
That's very wise ❤️
