Feeling down

I got COVID for the first time this week after being extremely careful for this long. My family traveled for a funeral, which is the first out of three times during the pandemic we have decided to travel this far - first flight. It was a meaningful trip and we also had a lot of fun, so I don’t regret going. I don’t know when I was exposed because I also visited a clinical trial office masked, worked one day this week indoors masked, and attended an outdoor concert. I took a test before seeing friends and family, which was negative. Then, I tested positive two days later. The people who came over have tested negative after me though, so I hope that stays true.
I feel so guilty for exposing my family and also sad that I caught it this month.

Omicron Covid these days is much less deadly than the original strain. Also, there is much more resistance in the population, because of both vaccines and prior infection, so it doesn't spread as virulently as it used to.

All of which is to say you didn't put your people at any more risk than if you have interacted with them and then come down with the flu.

Sorry you've lost your Covid "virginity" (two of my relatives also got their first case recently); congrats on the several months of immunity that will follow & the freedom that entails; and stop feeling guilty for doing what almost everyone else is doing.
