This is why we still try to keep people safe

Babies born to mothers who had COVID-19 while pregnant may be at higher than average risk for problems with brain development involved in learning, focusing, remembering, and developing social skills, researchers have found.

They studied 7,772 infants delivered in Massachusetts between March and September 2020, tracking the babies until age 12 months. During that time, 14.4% of the babies born to the 222 women with a positive coronavirus test during pregnancy were diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental disorder, compared to 8.7% of babies whose mothers avoided the virus while pregnant. After accounting for other neurodevelopmental risk factors, including preterm delivery, SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy was linked with an 86% higher risk of a neurodevelopmental disorder diagnosis in offspring, the researchers reported on Thursday in JAMA Network Open.

It's not just about you.

@Fluffybull Not when a large number of people believe things about covid that aren't true.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Fluffybull Right, because as adults, we just stop doing the right things when we get bored.

🤙
Yeah but they are already born. They have no rights now. Now if they were still a fetus...

So who decides what's safe? Conservatives can always go with another alternative source.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Changeisgonnacome That's not deciding what's safe, just going with what sounds good.

Research. Statistics. Mandatory reporting, Records. What's safe is you taking precaution with others in the event you are asymptomatic and taking precautions for yourself and the loved ones in your life.

If you had a bag of black widows, you'd be real careful about letting them escape into your friend's home or car.

Covid is the new aids apparently
Graylight · 51-55, F
@SW-User Probably not. Maybe.

But how 'bout until we know, we don't leave medical decisions for the country up to a collective group of people who have trouble helping their kids with 7th grade science homework.

@Graylight it's always nice to discredit the opposition to make them out to be idiots especially when you don't have a real argument yourself
Graylight · 51-55, F
@SW-User Here's the argument. No, Covid is not the "new AIDS."

AIDS is a complication of HIV, so I assume that's what you're talking about (though I get it - all your heroes are using the alternate term).

They aren't the same family of virus, they aren't transmitted the same way, they don't affect the body in the same way, they don't respond to the same treatment and they're not fought with the same vaccinations.

How's that homework coming?
