There's a misconception about people who are mentally ill

This post is a response to another post and user that made the mistake of generalizing that all mentally ill people are just mean assholes or that we shouldn't go out of our way to help our peers or friends from the goodness of our heart because they think we are too sick to actually care about others.

I can't speak for everyone but usually we are just overwhelmed and want to be left along everyone has that one asshole in the group but that doesn't mean we all are that way. It really pissed me off because there were times when I made the mistake of being vulnerable towards people I thought I could trust and they ended up using it against me.

It's disgusting how they try to make is look like we're barely human.

Well said, that post pissed me off too. It was just sheer ignorance and prejudice

It can happen to anyone

Usually I’m just about the most stable person around, but when my beloved one went to rehab and then had to go to a halfway house and stopped talking to me I considered checking into a mental institution, I didn’t lose my mind but I felt like I was barely hanging on

She still won’t talk to me but loved ones prayed for me and I prayed too and I’m surviving

Stand up and be heard. Mental health is a diagnosis, not a existence level. People are more than their labels.
