I am not a doctor. My mom and dad are patients of coronary artery disease, and my dad has gone through angioplasty and stenting.

I guess, yes your ECG can be normal, if you are not facing stress on your heart at the time of test. And if the disease is not acute and has not effected your heart beats too much, or if you are taking your prescribed medicines timely.

@ABCDEF7 I am actually looking for some answers
What if an anaesthetist asked a patient to perform certain tests before a surgery that included ECG, chest Xray, CBC and HbA1c but not echo medical test?
And all the above tests came normal.
But the patient faced table death immediately after anaesthesia was given due to sudden cardiac arrest.

@Fertilization If you are talking about GA. I can recall one of my uncle who under went bypass surgery due to coronary artery disease. He was also given GA. I don't know what factors anesthetist consider before administrating GA.

When I was to be given GA for my brain surgery, the anesthetist asked many questions, but I noticed he was majorly concerned about if I take any drug/alcohol/tobacco and if I have problem in teeth, my body weight. I guess he was more concerned about how much dose he need to administer.

@ABCDEF7 So is it possible that a patient could die of anaesthesia??
ABCDEF7 · M
@Fertilization Difficult for me to say anything. It needs high degree of knowledge, experience and research in the subject.

GA can be risky, maybe that's why they didn't gave GA to my father during angioplasty and stenting.

@ABCDEF7 Thanks so much for responding back.
Just one more question
And is it medically right to ban a patient from drinking water before a surgery when general anaesthesia is supposed to be given?
ABCDEF7 · M
@Fertilization They told me to not eat or drink anything before my brain surgery. I guess that's because in case of indigestion or any other problem they will not be able to vomit it properly and the food or water may end up going to lungs, which would not be a good thing.
