Body gets used to any routine over time and becomes lazy even amidst activity as the consciousness assigns the routine to the subconsciousness and forgets about it.
You can see many people walking or running years together but without any improvement.
Short term results would always be there as the fat just shifts from one area to another, only to settle back to where it was.
So the best health advice is to keep breaking the routine just like seasons. Changing diet, changing activities yield more long term results.
Have an activity/ working partner where one is monitored by the other and not by oneself. Games that have physical activity are better than mundane walking/ jogging. Water exercises are better than just swimming, as even those who do 10 or 20 laps won't see results in the long run.
I discovered doing yoga / tai chi done in a pool with snorkel/ face mask for breathing yields phenomenal results as the water offers the resistance activating the nervous system that no other exercise can.
