Do your best to not hide who you are

Some people learn the hard way, but yes, your real self will become apparent eventually. Friends, significant others, family, co-workers, your "secrets" will get out. This isn't to say that you need to talk about your private life, but you really need to try your best to be the real you. Otherwise the people that got close to you could be in for a shock.

Or, in other words, honesty helps both you and your relationships. Deception will only hurt.
