Americans pay full retail for pharmaceuticals. The taxpayer footed much of the bill for the vaccine but not the drug.
@HoraceGreenley The vaccine that cost $20 per dose? Can't you see, that vaccine is a YUGE bargain!
The EU is also paying less for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine than the U.S., $14.70 per dose versus $19.50, according to figures reported in BMJ. On the other hand, the U.S. is paying less for the Moderna vaccine (about $15) than the EU (about $18), according to the BMJ piece. The contribution governments have made toward vaccine research is the explanation for the price differences. Moderna is charging the U.S. less for its vaccine because the U.S. government funded research that led to the vaccine’s development. Similarly, the EU supported research that led to the development of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, thus the lower price for that vaccine for the EU.
@ElwoodBlues That's not what you are paying for
@ElwoodBlues what are your thoughts on the size of the profits made by Merck for this particular drug.
@BlackUnicorn Seems very unfair. That pricing is designed to cash in on the Trumpsters who think skipping the vaccine equals 'owning the libs.' And then when they end up in the hospital, they get squeezed for thousands. The other drug popular with unvaccinated hospitalized Trumpsters is monoclonal antibodies - $1200/dose plus $1000 for the infusion procedure.

Follow the money - it doesn't lead to vaccines!!
@HoraceGreenley
That's not what you are paying for
Please elucidate.
@ElwoodBlues I'm sorry but this isn't about voters. People in general. All of them are getting screwed doesn't matter who they are what political party they voted for or anything. It should be everybody's problem.
