'Water weight'

Any gym / fitness / diet people who can explain this to me? Like the whole concept / truth of it.

Because I know weight can fluctuate, and this is a reason. But also we're supposed to consume however much water in a day (8 glasses)? So it is good for you and has no calories, but also it makes us heavier?

Last week during a huge heatwave in the UK I was lighter and an inch smaller around my middle, I assume this was partly due to how much I was sweating 馃槄 And I know boxers, bodybuilders, jockeys etc can 'lose' pounds of weight from sweat before a weigh-in.

If you lose weight quite quickly your body reacts with water weight also as something to do with the metabolic stress. We have a layer of water around our muscle and everywhere on the body. So it seems like you're not losing as much weight as you are.

For instance, creatine moves some of the water to your muscle tissue which buffs you up a bit.

@Ryannnnnn So I'd have to go on a fancy body composition machine like gyms have to get actual accurate numbers?
Ryannnnnn31-35, M
@annamk Yeah if you wanted an actual fat to muscle ratio.

@Ryannnnnn Creatine does not buff you up. It's a nonprotein compound.

@Synyster Thought it just moved water to muscles? rather than feed them. I'm not a chemist though so haha.
Synyster51-55, M
@Ryannnnnn No, it's more of a strengthening and resistant compound much like Carderine, although Carderine will shed excess fat as well.

@Synyster Nvm apparently it just gives you more energy, not sure where tf I read the other part lol

@Ryannnnnn No problem . lol
