My missus said to me, 'trim my hair for me as it's irritating me. I'll talk you through it, it's easy.' Anyway long story short, it turns out I don't have any ability in hair dressing at all!

how much did you cut off
GeniUs · 56-60, M
It was about 3 inches which made her angry, about a third of the length but she stopped me and tried brushing the rest over! Luckily it curls madly so she just had to wash it and it blended in -unless you knew where to look!

@GeniUs: Dang that is too bad but at least it turned out alright, how much did she want you to cut? I ask since if it is so long that it is irritating you but three inches is to much then it can't be that much to cut off, but then again it could have been a specific section, like the bangs or something like that.

It was only about half an inch difference but it stopped it from curling (she has a head of loose curls) so it looked badly wrong. (She had told me how to do it but I thought I knew better).

@GeniUs: lol that is too bad but also funny. Thanks for telling me. So have you trimmed her hair since?
GeniUs · 56-60, M
No, she was pretty angry and I was trying not to laugh, more at her reaction than how it looked. She still does mine, really good at it too. Listens to what I'm trying to achieve and we talk through it as she does it, still only takes 15 minutes, same as if I went to a barber's shop but they always try and force their preset hair styles on you.

@GeniUs: That makes sense I figured she would probably head back to whoever cut it before. And that is so cool that she cuts your hair, that way you save money and get the style you want, and it may be good for strengthening you marriage, since there is a level of trust that goes into letting someone cut your hair.

May I ask what haircut she usually ends up giving you, like is it just with clippers or scissors or both, because if she isn't a trained stylist that is pretty cool.

I've had grades before but I'm growing it long now so she just takes off any bits that look daft, generally at the sides where (it curls up) makes my head look too wide! I have a really complicated head of hair too as the longer it gets it starts curling plus at my age it's receding, more on one side than the other. She mostly uses scissors and 'no' hasn't had any professional training she just seems to have an eye for it.

Wow that is really cool, too bad about it getting harder to deal with as age comes but glad you have a great lady in your life to help you out with it.
Hope you enjoy having longer hair.
