“She’s getting more balder!”

My 4-year-old nephew said while my sister shaved what remained of my hair. He cracks me up.
My other sister tried to explain to him that we had to fix my hair because I got sick and the “medicine” for it makes hair fall out.
“I got boogers,” he responded (what he says when he’s congested), and you could tell by the look on his face that he was worried having a cold was going to make his hair fall out too. We laughed because it was the wrong way to explain what was going on. He’s too young to understand. Still, he lightened the mood.

Not that I was in a bad one. It was just weird because clippers tickled my scalp and neck. I kept laughing and couldn’t stay still. I wonder how guys joining the military do it.

I took forever to finally shave the remaining strands off because I was worried my scalp would be shiny. A weird concern, but I’m over it. It was such a process getting to the mindset of being okay with how I look without any hair. I’m rocking the hats and earrings combo lately, though. Maybe I’ll reach a point of being okay sporting the bald look, no hats or wig.

“Tita, you look like a boy,” nephew innocently informed me.

…Maybe I won’t try walking around without a head cover.
