I've decided that I'm going to get laser hair removal done.
I was working from home today because I was getting a couch delivered (which I'm currently sitting on), and I didn't have much work to do. Nobody could see me standing around not working and honestly I didn't feel like sitting at my table, so I decided to search on google maps for laser hair removal establishments. It's something I've always wanted to get done on a lot of my body. I have thick, curly dark hair, which feels uncomfortable when it grows in in some places, and I've always hated the look of thick body hair (not all though, chest hair & arm hair is fine). My skin is really sensitive and the hair grows fast; I spend so much time just shaving it off every night, only to be visibly fuzzy by the time I go to work the following morning.
So I emailed & called around a bunch, and I was able to set up 6 consultations, one of which was a virtual consultation this afternoon with an industry giant. The sales person was frighteningly charismatic, and she told me I could get all the treatment I want for a lump sum of $5,000 (or go into debt for it 🤮). This was the cheapest option I'd found so far, and it supposedly comes with a lifetime guarantee (they'll pay for touch-ups). Looking around at reviews, people seem to consider this company very sleazy, which was the impression I got, too. But most of the complaints were that scheduling is rough and the lifetime guarantee isn't real, which I can work around the 1st (i have no life) and I can verify the second if true. It's possible their policies changed or something idk.
I still have 5 more companies to conduct consultations with, and a couple more I'm inquiring. Yet another company gave me their pricing scheme, which... is more expensive than the big brand's, with the noteworthy benefit of being pay-as-you-go. IDK, I think I'd rather just have the big brand anyway if it's between the two. Still though, I want to do as much comparison shopping as possible for such an expensive, important, and potentially hazardous service, so I'll happily consult with every last one. The meetings are scattered over the course of this month.
I don't have enough money to even pay up front at any of the establishments I've seen, let alone do that while maintaining my financial safety cushion. The ability to do that is months away right now; the soonest I can even imagine is maybe 4 months off, and that's a big stretch. I'm really, really ready to do these treatments though, and I'm hoping another firm offers a comparable service at a lower price so I can perhaps get started sooner.
