Over ego.
(Not superego ...OVER ego - an inflated ego.)
It leads to so many things: Sometimes it's just a blindness of self or others.
Or competition where there isn't any.
Or worst case - needless meanness and cruelty and greed.
It makes us fall into our id, and then justify it.
