Why do all these middle aged men on here want to be friends with a girl half their age?

It's kinda weird.

[c=#4C0073]Bunch of Dirty Old Men. To be fair some are just looking for a fresh perspective, but most are dirty old men.[/c]
That is kind of a tired stereotype. Funny how the condemnation never works the other way.
[c=#BF0080]So true. I never really realized how bad it was until here.[/c]

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: [c=#4C0073]Actually, it does work the other way. Women get called cradle robbers and cougars. They also get condemned by saying that they are childish and trying to reclaim lost youth....If you are talking about younger women looking for older men, they get called gold diggers, and hoes......As far as younger men looking for older women, I don't see stereotypes for them.[/c]
@VioletRayne: Perhaps in some contexts but I have yet to see the kind of shaming of young women going after men old enough to be their grandfathers on here anyway. Just seems a double standard from the dynamic I have observed here.

[c=#4C0073]athe assumption is that the older one should know better and the younger one is too inexperienced to realize what they are on about. Yet, I have seen younger girls admonished and ridiculed for being interested in older men.[/c]
@VioletRayne: The first bit seems to be what I have seen most of. The assumption that the older party should know better and the automatic assumption that they are a predator. It is equally insulting to the woman because it infantilizes them by the implication that they are too young, naive, or too stupid to realize they are supposedly being taken advantage of.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: [c=#4C0073]You can look at it however, the majority of the time the younger party is being taken advantage of. If not the older Party is being financially drained. It's very rare to find a situation that doesn't fit the stereotypes.[/c]
@VioletRayne: I think that is an assumption. The scandals get the attention but I suspect the healthy relationships are the ones you don't hear about because they are "boring" and not news worthy. Also painting such relationships negatively is often done by outsiders with their own agenda which almost never has the best interest of either party in mind.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: [c=#4C0073]Like I said believe what you will. Everyone sees things differently. My personal experience is that it's usually a matter of the chick either has daddy issues or financial woes and she's using grandpa to fix her own short comings and grandpa is using her to feel like he's still got it.[/c]
