Porch pirates! Does it actually happen to your deliveries?

Most of the delivery people won’t bother themselves to even ring the doorbell. My postal carrier does after I told her I got a book stolen out of my mailbox that was delivered. Didn’t get there fast enough and it got stolen. Around here some young people have been seen going around on electric scooters and wearing backpacks and going from mailbox to mailbox opening them up and taking things. Pretty sure they’d grab a package as well.

No, I have a gate so the deliveryman put it on the chair standing by.

nah but once the dumb delivery driver put the package at our neighbor's house and not ours 🙄 and marked it as delivered 😒 my husband tracks everything online .. i had to walk across the street and take it from their house thinking i hope the other neighbors don't think i'm stealing their package cause it's our package 🙄😒

We haven't seen it yet in our neighborhood, but I've certainly seen plenty of videos about it online. Most vendors will send an email or text saying item out for delivery, but that time can often be an 8 hour window. Some orders need to be signed for, and that's usually a 2-4 hour window.

I think most of the videos are staged for views.
I know porch pirates exist but not likely as bad as these videos make it seem.

I think the viral videos would attract too many lawsuits if they were authentic, the porch pirates wanting their share of profits from the channel etc.

I do know know how that would work but it seems that way.

Yes, it happens. I've had packages stolen from my porch.
