there are so many posts i see that mostly make me say/think something like 'oh, wow. i didn't think you could be that mentally ill and not be instutionalized.

Yes, but I usually just realize it's because there's so many older people here. I just don't get their (your) cultural understanding sometimes. Some items, yes .. that I've seen before - but others new, no.
