I’m seeing just who are decent people here after the death of my grandfather

I am going to be a draconian person removing those who have no respect or compassion, common humanity here.

Wow...so sorry you feel that is necessary.

How are the different layers of your family taking it? Is it hitting one generation particularly harder?

You are blessed to go through this with a large family...and he had a long life to share with you.

@SomeMichGuy He did have a long life but it is the fact that his death will hasten my grandmother’s death because she will pine away and die of grief
@Ximenajacoba Years ago, I read that long-term marriages often have that, with it being quite common for the surviving spouse to die within about 6 mos.

I'm not sure what was considered to be "long-term", it was at least 30 yrs and might have been more.

I hope your family keeps your grandmother invested in living by keeping more in touch, visiting, but also offering her new opportunities to go somewhere different, experience something new, etc.
