Do you always initiate or say hello to your SW friends in DM, or wait till they say it?

I am not sure what the rule is here.
Do you always initiate a conversation with your friends on here?If you see them online or do you just wait sometime for them to say hello?

Meanwhile, you initiate all of our convos, lol. I guess I haven't really thought about it. I chat with very few and it kinda feels more like a flow of texts. I'm really not an inboxy person and can leave people hanging with no specific reason on their part due to what I call inbox anxiety. Or sometimes I'm just quiet on the inside and politely leave a reaction. I do have a couple I have to go checking on because they aren't ever really here, but I don't mind.

@moonlightlullaby No, back in days when i first stared, i did. Now, sometimes i feel i care about the person i will check in on them. Considering it as one good deed of the day.
