On profiles it basically means they created the group themselves.
I'm the moderator of four groups myself.
The forums button on the top is listing of the groups and that does not apply to admin/mod.
Most groups are technically considered created by the admin. Which there's only two.
They were once considering giving some real authority to group creators with real moderation options. Yet that was put off to the side for a long while. They might not even do so.

@DeWayfarer What kind of moderator functions do you get....isn't every post public?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@helenoftroy2000 Practically none.
It's been in the works now for years. I don't even know, if they will give any more functions. It's been that long.
You can create or modify the group, description and assign a image for the group. And that is it.
Anyone's groups is listed on their profiles forums as admin/mod.
Yet you're not even listed as mod when you post, comment or reply, in your own group. Nor even listed as mod in the groups followers.
Nor can you see anyone's posts, comments or replies, if they have blocked you. 🤣
Private posts remain private as well I believe. No way to double check that. They either follow you or not on a private post. Also hard to tell if it's a private post. Though there is a clumsy way to check that, if they follow you.

@DeWayfarer I always thought every single post was public and it posted to the main page because there isn't a private or side forum on the site.

The default is public. You must set the visibility yourself.
You can even change the visibility to private later. Yet you can never change it back to public.

@helenoftroy2000 this site isn't geared for moderation yet.
There's only two admin, two global moderators and semi AI algorithm running this site.
It's too small.
Max 7,000 active users.
In fact you're supposed to moderate your own posts. Why there's a delete option on every comment and reply.
