Sorta. I try to avoid getting too specific about where I am. I'm in a rural area between two small towns I won't name, but roughly 60 miles from Montgomery Alabama. People here tend to know everyone else and are prone to gossip.

I once had someone track me down without knowing who it was they were actually looking for. It went something like this, There was a repair job I had looked at but the guy trying to line it up, "John" was let go so I put the project on hold. One of his co workers was questioned about the details and only knew John had talked to someone in this general area. The first phone call was to a local business asking if they knew anyone in our area with the skills to take on such a project. They knew me but didn't connect the dots so they gave them the number of a contractor "Bill" they thought might know something. Next the guy calls Bill to ask if he had looked at such a job or if he knew anyone who might have. It just so happened on that particular day Bill and my ex brother in law were working together on a job and they looked at each other and asked "you don't suppose he's looking for ___________?"

The guy trying to track me down lived about 70 miles away. We actually knew each other, I had been to his house and did work for him in the past but he didn't realize it at the time. I once worked with his wife's grandfather and had known his wife since she was around 5 or 6. I had known his father in law for around 30 years and had done work for him as well. Small world.

I don't mind talking to individuals and may discuss personal details if I trust you, but I'm leery of openly posting a lot of details that might identify me.
