Why do 96% of (alleged) ex military people ALWAYS somehow get around to letting everyone know they were "in the military"???

"When I got out of the Marines..." 🙄

It’s a brotherhood. You are a part of something much bigger than yourself, but more than that it’s a noble badge of honor when you have served your country knowing you may have to pay the ultimate sacrifice, and you remember those who have paid with life and limb.
@Carissimi But why do they have to let everyone know? Their "brothers" in arms already know they were in the military. Why do I need to know?

@NoThanksLeon Well, it depends on the context, and you are not telling us the context. I suppose they are proud of their service to their country, and with good reason.
@Carissimi Again, why do they feel the need to tell ME? Most people I talk to who were in the military were DRAFTED, kicking and screaming.

@NoThanksLeon So people come up to you and say, “I was in the military?” That’s odd. Just tell them you are not interested in their service to their country, and you couldn’t care less. At least be honest. I’m sure they’ll never want to bother you again.
@Carissimi Within a normal conversation, out of the blue they say ..."when I got out of the marines..." or military. It is usually marines.

@NoThanksLeon So, I don’t see the problem. What’s wrong with saying that? Get over it. It’s nothing.
@Carissimi I didn't say anything about a "problem". I merely asked why do they do it?
