The funny folks - there are many really, really funny people here.
The smart ones, too - especially the people who know and love what they're talking about on a wide range of topics.

Anonymity is what I bring. I mean, who knows what I look like, for example? Who knows my true heart?
In other words, I bring a lot of "Who cares?!"

I meant who cares what I have to say. I know a lot of old, old, lost-in-the-mists-of-time nonsense... mostly about movies and historical facts.
@RenFur I believe all of our combined knowledge and experiences are valuable.
I love movies. I’m sure we could have a terrific discussion about them

Old, OLD movies? I recently discovered a series of movies that broke off from the original, 1920s Our Gang comedies featuring Mickey Daniels and Mary Kornman called The Boyfriends. I think all or most are on YouTube.

No one knows old movies like @JSul3
@RenFur I like all types of movies.
I recently watched The Crowd, from 1928, directed by King Vidor. I think it’s a classic

I also watched One-Eyed Jacks, the only film Marlon Brando directed. It has a chance to be a great western, but I thought it was let down by a long running time and a weak ending.

There are quite a few "classics" I've not yet watched like The Crowd. And Ben Hur. My bad.

Have you ever heard anyone of any repute - and from his era - ever diss Brando? Me neither...
I don't believe he brought much to comedy or romance, though. Bogart got the Oscar for The African Queen for a lifetime of acting but the award should've gone to Brando for Streetcar but Brando beat him a few years later...
@RenFur There are so many great movies I know I’ll never get to see in my lifetime.
Have you seen Brando in Bedtime Story? Probably his funniest film

@Ghostinthemachine

I have not. I knew it was a light comedy but, after checking it out just now, the plot sounds familiar - like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels?
@RenFur Yes, that’s the remake.
As is the female version, The Hustle
RenFur · 70-79, M
@Ghostinthemachine

You DO know your movies! I've never even heard of The Hustle.
@RenFur which lets you know how it compares to the two previous versions 😆
RenFur · 70-79, M
@Ghostinthemachine

It might be worth a watching?

EDIT: In any event, I have it so it's bookmarked for a quick selection :)
@RenFur I think the first two are worth a watch, The Hustle not so much

@Ghostinthemachine

It seems to me I've see the Niven one. The remake of that I've seen a couple of times.
@RenFur Coincidentally I was discussing with mates which remakes are superior to the original.
I would say Oceans 11 for sure.
And Casino Royale (another Niven film)
RenFur · 70-79, M
@Ghostinthemachine

Casino Royale - with Woody Allen as Jimmy Bond?
RenFur · 70-79, M
@Ghostinthemachine

How about the remake of The Maltese Falcon? I thought the original was not all that bad...
@RenFur haha yes, Jimmy Bond.

Was the remake of Maltese Falcon with Robert Mitchum? I don’t think you can compare…the original is a classic
RenFur · 70-79, M
@Ghostinthemachine

The original paired Ricardo Cortez (who was actually Jewish) with Bebe Daniels. The remake starred Bogart and Astor.
@RenFur ah, very good! I’ve not seen the original then.

Also I’m a sucker for An Affair To Remember, with Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant.
The original was Charles Boyer and Irene Dunne

It was also remade with Warren Beatty and Annette Benning

@Ghostinthemachine

I'll take a pass, thanks! On all three and on any possible fourth then fifth, etc LOL
