If some people will be monetized...

Does that mean half the members, especially the selfie wh*res, are going to be constantly asking for patreon donations, likes, subscribes, check out their other umpteen social sites, trying to sell you everything under the sun,

I understand why the admins want traffic but won't monetizing members just encourage SW panhandling?

One major change I bet happens is people who are trying to hustle on here will not be so quick to block anyone.

Plus, based on what people normally post, will they now be saying, "Please subscribe to my platform to hear more details about my pathetic depressed existence as a lonely middle aged person."

Are those members going to do weekly podcasts where the listeners can hear actual whining of the depressed cougar or incel?

I think you're going to p!ss off a lot of people with your brutal honesty.

Fact of the matter is, most middle aged people here make the same boring posts like the rest of the age groups.
I've seen very few profiles with quality posts worth reading.
Everyone else just comes on here and dumps their random two sentence thoughts and gathers dozens of hearts and comments.

Most of the selfie folks here already have jobs, or have an alternate source of income.
The selfies are merely here for attention which they probably don't get offline.

Podcasts? I doubt most people here would be able to make a decent podcast worth listening to.
They neither have the attention span to write long enough, nor read long enough.
How would they manage to speak for an hour or more?
I doubt most people here have the intellectual capacity to speak for an hour or more on various topics.
Best they can do is gossip and talk about drama. That's the only stuff most are interested in engaging in.

You just summed up the story of my life in one sentence. ☺️
Half the people who blocked me are republican and the other half are the attention-seeking depressed.

Then in the rest of the post, yeah that wraps up the forum pretty much.

But yeah I was reading one of Andrew's posts about this monetization where he mentioned something about creating content and I thought, "Well most people here are not focused or smart enough to create anything really worth reading."

Maybe they could make it an "SW Jerry Springer" thing?
rrraksamam · 31-35, M
@CestManan I don't even bother clicking on most of the posts here because I know they've got nothing worth reading or commenting on.

Besides, their algorithm has already made it pretty difficult for people to see most of the posts here.
So with their ad revenue monetization on one side and algorithm on the other, it's counterintuitive.

The moment they came up with this algorithm nonsense to filter out what each user sees and "customize their experience", they'd lost the plot.

The only reason most people still come here is because they've got nowhere else to go. And most social networks are PG rated and moderated, so they can't post this type of garbage elsewhere.

As for the SW Jerry Springer thing, nah. People here aren't entertaining enough for that kind of show.
Entertaining others requires creative intelligence.
And quite frankly? Most people here don't have that. Sorry.
Sounds rude, sounds harsh, but you can visit all the profiles here and see for yourself.
Half the folks online on the People page don't even have posts, or haven't posted in over a year. They just come here to engage in inbox degen3racy.

@mysteryespresso It would take *you* to refer to T&A as "mammary glands and gluteal" :D

But yeah they are still ironing out the details.

Not on SW itself. Yet in other sites that allow it, it will.

You're passing Links from this site on other sites.

This site itself doesn't allow self promotion. In fact you can report it. That's in the TOS.

@DeWayfarer Thing is, other sites do not want to be spammed with link to other sites either.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@CestManan if true it's in their TOS. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Note: it often only applies to public posts. Just like here. PMs here that doesn't apply.

lol this post is funny af

Can't wait to get paid for talking about my coochie and the cheese factory it is.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@Nanori Somebody with that plan could use the slogan, "More cheese than Wisconsin." 😄
StevetheSleeve · 31-35, M
I think the idea is to actually get people to post content that attracts more people here. To monetize that content they’ll need to do what successful content creators do. It could be vapid, creative, sexual or whatever but it does require some skills, creativity and strategy. I doubt I’ll be part of anyone’s fan club but if people can actually make money posting here good luck to them.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@StevetheSleeve It's weird because somehow people get rich on some sites by posting videos of mundane crap.
I do not know what you typically post or why it would or would not be popular but there is no rhyme nor reason for what draws attention.
You mean hourly "podcasts" and it often it will be followed with how sexy is my ass? I doubt the middle aged persons will make as much. I loved how Andrew said $0.35 dollars compared to other platforms..... NO ONE READS HERE. I bet that $0.35 rounds much lower than $0.05 where people click...
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
I'm pretty sure this was a flash in the pan idea because the administrators have not said anything else about it since the first mention of it
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
Yes, yes and yes.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@GeistInTheMachine It is hard to enjoy anything on the web when the content creator is just trying to sell something. We all know this.

Of course you try to circumvent by using block programs but then sites are cracking down on that like they want to force feed ads.

It kind of cancels out some of the enjoyment.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@CestManan Yup. Unfortunately, that's the system.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I don’t think it’s going to get that big. You get paid for self referrals and lots of people wouldn’t invite people they know either.

Sexual based content cannot be monetized here either.

Also will the content need to be original and owned by the poster? What’s gonna happen for all the catfish accounts. How can you monetize on stolen pictures?
CestManan · 46-50, F
@iamonfire696 I would be reluctant to refer anyone cause I do not want my non-SWEEP acquaintances to know what a jackass I am on other forums. 😄
I understand why they do it but most people like to keep their online and real life separate.

I imagine sooner or later they will decide, "Ya know, we could probably make decent money if we allow adult content." Just a speculation.

Original content by the poster - Yes it would because otherwise a site could face lawsuits for allowing plagiarized content. Plus seeing how someone would need something big or a lot of content, the catfish just wouldn't last anyways.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@CestManan I will never refer anyone here 🤣. Like never ever lol.

I asked on that thread how they will handle catfish so I will be interested to see the answer because you shouldn’t be able to make money on someone’s content.

I am not here to make money, I am not really sure how this is going to play out though.
