This SW member replied to my question with a deflection -- then he keeps accusing me of engaging in deflection. WTF?

Did you know that Hamas admits it uses human shields in Gaza?

Did you know that the Pope is Catholic? Breaking news.

@REDACTED You seem a tad sarcastic. I like sarcasm.

flipper1966 · M
@REDACTED Are you familiar with the concept of clean hands in the law?

When Hamas admits to using human shields, it's admitting to the commission of war crimes. Can Hamas expect sympathy for war crimes visited upon the residents of Gaza by Israel? Does it have clean hands?

REDACTED · M
@flipper1966 Wrong analogy.

flipper1966 · M
@REDACTED OK. But does Hamas have clean hands?

REDACTED · M
@flipper1966 Whataboutism, and add another strawman to your question.

flipper1966 · M
@REDACTED President Obama says neither side has clean hands. I agree with him. Don't you?

@REDACTED And I doubt whataboutism applies here. Hamas' use of human shields and its intentional refusal to build bomb shelters while building terror tunnels means that Hamas's war crimes (use of human shields) contribute to the very Israeli war crimes (indiscriminate killing of Palestinian civilians) that Hamas complains about. It's about clean hands.

REDACTED · M
@flipper1966 With this comment, you're combining whataboutism and strawman propositions. I'm very familiar with these types of deflections.

flipper1966 · M
@REDACTED Whataboutism in my understanding concerns raising a totally different issue. Hamas' use of human shields and Israel's indiscriminate killing are not different issues. These issues are intertwined. Hamas' use of human shields promotes civilian casualties. In negligence law, by analogy, a defendant's allegation of contributory negligence by the plaintiff is not whataboutism.

And that you did.

flipper1966 · M
@REDACTED One last question. Do you not believe that both Hamas and Israel are at fault?

And another run at whataboutism.

@REDACTED Thanks for an interesting exchange. 👌
I decided no longer to engage with or tolerate haters of Israel. Enough is enough. Did you know they killed a jewish protestor in california? 😐 no respect. 😐
