Well, I Seem To Have Found...

...my first real idiot on this platform.

So, a conversation regarding the new Beatles (last) song, 'Now And Then' and just popped up a comment to this guy that loved the track. Fine. Innocently, I answered that I didn't like it, thinking it was a poor song.

..and it was almost like I was insulting his mother!

Onwards, making comments about me being judgemental and then slagging me off and going all intellectually highbrow!

For the record, I like the Beatles. What they represented, their albums and music, their writing. John's passing. George's passing. A.I. Production and all that.

But...I don't think it's a good song!

Simple. Am I not allowed to have an opinion?

Enjoy as much as you like. You're entitled to. But not for me. That's art. It's suppose to be subjective!

God, some people!

Each to their own thoughts. I have been on the magic mystery tour. Loved seeing the beetles sights. Some song should never see the light of day

@bhatjc Yes, we've been to The Beatles Exhibits in L'Pool. They were cool. The song is an ok album track at best.

@JasminD The Albert docks. I agree the song was just like a toss in, just to get rid of it.
JasminD · 22-25, F
@bhatjc Well, I wouldn't say that but it was 'the last song' (until the next John track they find!) and, fine. Pop it on an album. But, it's apparently the No. 1 single in the UK...

Undeserved.

@JasminD That is true. Until they find some other track that they had misplaced.
JasminD · 22-25, F
@bhatjc I recall my grandmother going ape over new Deep Purple tracks that the band forgot about, with the classic (she said!) line-up, so I do get it. But, whereas DP stuck them on the reissued albums, The Beatles have to make a song and dance about it all.

It does all feel a bit like 'The Emperor's New Clothes' tbh.

@JasminD That is true. Or they are trying to get their "15 minutes of fame." Or money is tight for them. They want some more income.
JasminD · 22-25, F
@bhatjc Some famous people have said that fame is addictive and that, after the rush for them has faded and the public is onto the next thing, that they miss that.

I don't think they need the money but I do think that The Beatles aren't allowed to do something 'off the radar', so to speak. They have the 'Big Machine' behind them that does want to generate money.

David Bowie put out 'The Next Day' without anyone knowing and refused to do any interviews, So I remember. What success it had was just through word of mouth. Similarly his last album, 'Blackstar', released the day before he died and just before his birthday.

The Beatles aren't allowed to do that.

@JasminD You're right. For they have more money than the king. For the Beatles machine. What it to be loud and out there. David was a good soul. Let the music do the talking
JasminD · 22-25, F
@bhatjc It's interesting, 'cos I do like Britney, but her whole machine just takes over and you really can't tell the difference between her dad's regime and her own...

Conversely, Taylor Swift (who I really love) is pretty much the other way; She uses social media well. She just pops something up and it's retweeted/FB'd/Insta'd/Threaded (?!) by one and all. It's all very fan led, and I love that.

@JasminD 🫶🤔 Your right about that. Britney is trying to hold on to her fame. Taylor, does know how to use social media. But like both girls. They need to just settle down and find spouse that have staying power.
JasminD · 22-25, F
@bhatjc To a degree, I think. Taylor's grown up in public and I think she's still growing. I'd imagine it's hard to find a mate who is at such a similar level to grow together.

My grandmother, Sammy Jo, is a big fan of Kate Bush and, we all know, she turned her back on fame and fortune to raise a family. When her son was old enough - 12, I think - she was, like, 'Ok, I can make music again.'

I like KB. She's all about the art. The songwriting. Not about touring or selling her music as such.

That's a great musician, I think.

I love India Arie; she's a bit like that too.

@JasminD We'll Taylor is about the music as well. She is rerecording her songs. So she has the writes to them. Not some one else. But KB who is now in the rock and roll hall of fame. Did the right thing. Take some time off to have a kid. Be a mother first. But still keep writing .
