If I had to choose, it'd be the former.
Over 40 years ago, I was offered a job as an airline hostess. I didn't take it.
But the life I lived could not have been predicted from that choice.
The path not taken is one of infinite posssibilities.
Only the paths actually taken define our histories.
And yet, we need not be defined by any past at all.
We simply are - responding however we do in this moment now.
