Has anyone heard of a prescription called citalopram?

The name brand is celexa, it treats depression. I have been on it for 8 years and I am not able to get off if it. When I wasn't able to get any for 2 months, my anxiety became worst and I had severe panic attacks and I had to go back on it but I still suffer from panic attacks but not as bad. I am always so scared and overthinking. I get severe heat flashes and everything. I wish I never went on that drug, because it has been making my life hell. I used to get angry when I forget to take it but now I get severe panic attacks that I beg to go to the hospital because I feel like I'm dying! It truly hurts so much. I wish life would get easier

Yes, you sound like you qualify for medically assisted detox. Talk to your primary care doctor or psychiatrist. Even though it is not physically addictive, the withdrawal symptoms coupled with psychological addictive aspects means you need more professional support.

@Miram I will look into that more! Thank you

Are you in therapy because attempting to quit medication without other coping mechanisms will just make you crash because your body is used to getting a chemical and then you just want to rip it away.
It sounds like you might need some assistance but it is doable
Is there a reason that you want to get off of it?

@REMsleep i just wish to be more independent but this medication is stopping me. Sometimes i run out of it and i have to wait a long time to get another prescription and the withdrawls are really bad. I sleep 12 hours of the day with this mediacation

All this crap never did anything for me. I think I tried it for 6 weeks and gave it up. i am not depressive but anxious.

Who and what is the poison around you in your life

It would be a lot safer to wean off it if you could.

Quitting Celexa cold turkey is what made my body attack my brain.
Yes that happens when i try to withdraw from duloxetine
Best is to wean off of it

You have to taper off escitalopram. There can still be withdrawals. But not as severe. Are you looking to switching to a new drug?

I went cold turkey off of Lexapro(similar) and it wasn't fun. Lex did help my OCD, though.
