Is there a scientific logical answer to why we get stabby pains in our throats and ears while we cry?

I always got lots of stabby pains in my throat and ears while I cry...

A signal was sent to your tonsils and they create these feelings to avoid infection, then the signal goes to your ears. (This answer is bull and not to be taken seriously by any logical person).
