Why do people comment on a post just to insult the poster and then get butthurt when their comment gets deleted?

That's what deleting comments is for 🤦‍♂️ I swear, some people have the self-awareness of a bag of foam peanuts.

The easiest way to handle that might be to start your own thread about the issue you got blocked for commenting on. You can then express your opinion more freely.
