It saddens me how many great members have left, became significantly less active or are planning to leave...

And the site seems to become quieter and quieter overall too. I've never had much of a problem with the feed or the group consolidation, but I'm starting to wonder if there is a lot of content I'm not seeing, and beginning to notice issues with finding people with similar interests.

The way the group reorganization was proposed, I was a big fan. When the plan changed to make it less detailed, I was a bit disappointed but gave it a chance. Now I browse profiles and mostly see people interested in topics like weather, health, etc. Do these people like the sun or snow? Are they struggling with chronic illness or into dieting and daily hour long gym visits? The groups on a profile no longer say much about a person and the groups catalog doesn't bring people together any more than the people page or general feed.

So I understand why people leave, but it's not making SW any more fun... Yet it is the only social media platform I know that's still somewhat close to what EP and SW had going. Other sites are more focused on people you already know offline, or separate sections about one topic. Nowhere does it feel like you can meet new people based on multiple shared interests, in a small corner of the internet detached from the masses and misery of the world, the way it used to feel here.

The algorithm killed it for me, I either have to log out in order to see more content or hit up individual profiles on a daily basis if I want to see the content SW has decided I shouldn't see.

It's both tiresome and boring, I keep hoping the algorithm might learn if I keep hitting up the same profiles but it just adds them to my feed that day and the next I've to go back to the profile yet again, it's absolutely crap.

I'm 55 years old not 5, I don't need an algorithm to decide what I should see, I have block/mute/hide options for exactly that.
they really need to change it back to seeing all the posts. it's what pppl wannt to see. i was not a fan of the group reorganization either, it took away a lot of the originality & variation, now i mostly use the same 5-6 groups for everything & it doesn't add to my experience here. i don't know of any website like SW and i love a few people here, so i stay.
Aweee :( dont worry it works in cycles ive seen it since 2016

Me coming back scared them all away

There is definitely less engagement and less fun than it used to be and it is probably a multitude of reasons, not just the structure of SW currently which definitely doesn't help.

They need to just shut it down
@SW-User that's a bit extreme... I wouldn't like that without an alternative.

I haven't been sure if the number of posts were dropping or if I'd simply blocked so many posters.
@ChipmunkErnie that plays a part too for sure. And being blocked by others. Maybe it would help to start over on a new account and hold back a little more on some topics, but I don't know.

I share your sentiments. I even notice I post less now, I think in large part because of how its laid out now.

They will be back they always come back
@Wallflow3r I hope so...
Who is to be blamed
@mysteryespresso the current situation is the result of many things done by many people, but pointing fingers isn't going to solve anything.

It's still fun.
As long as you keep the energy going.
And draw a crowd by asking thought provoking things...it'll fly.
See my profile and you'll understand what I mean..

I still believe the new 'smart' feed is the one feature that ruined this site the most. There is definitely posts you will never get to see, or only hours or days later. There is no way to always see everything chronologically.

I do agree with the group consolidation as we really don't need 10 groups that mean the exact same thing. But I also think groups are now too generic and there are way too few of them.
@FeetAreFantastic I agree 100% on the groups things. Having people interested in a certain thing spread over 10 or 100 groups made it difficult to find connections too, but they kinda went overboard to the other extreme.
@FeetAreFantastic why don't admins understand

I was going through my friend list today and realised that I'm not seeing their posts for some reason, I think the algorithm is showing me the same 6 people or something..

I am thinking of deleting tbh
