What is the point of 'following' someone on SW?

I don't get it. I know that if you follow someone and they follow you back, you become friends. What does that mean? Then there's a 'circle'. What's that?

Well I thought I was sending you a friend request but I think, like on EP, it automatically put a tick by it so I might be 'following' you. This means your posts will show up in my feed as I am interested in them. Why? Bits of every day life and humour. I haven't written much yet as I've not really found many other posts and people here appealing. Anyway, even if you didn't accept a friend request or follow back, I would still be interested in seeing what you post. Maybe that's the point.

I have replied to your 'follower' thing so you had better post interesting stuff as well! I love it here...

Lol. Maybe you're my one 'friend' on here. I think most my profile views are from myself. I check the groups I'm a member of to see if there's any new posts maybe once a month but usually not.

That's really sad! Happy to be a friend anyway.
