📈 Similar Worlds #️⃣ pages Indexed, UP 3x since Group Consolidation 🚀

The number of webpages from Similar Worlds being indexed by Google (which will resultingly translate to other Search Engines),
has increased by Threefold (x3) since our release of Group Consolidation, / Restructuring,
which was done on July 23rd, 2021.
(Initial improvement changes were started in the prior month of June.)

This will lead to future growth on SW, in the coming months and years ahead.

📈 More Pages Indexed = More Visitors = More Signups & Growth 🚀

[c=666666](Corrected chart labelling)[/c]

This is as we have strategized, which is that these recent changes will improve the overall "Site Quality", Relevance and Organization, over time.

The real benefits to users, will be more visible once we have implemented the planned significant improvements to our "Relevance Algorithms", which will provide more relevant:

• Posts & Comments in Feeds
• Search Results
• Users, Activities, Recommendations
etc...

[sep]

While we understand that many users will not be happy with many of our decisions made in improving/adjusting the way how this site works and operates,

we (SW Staff) DO definitely always consider user feedback, very strongly, in every decision we make.

[sep]

Please note that a "Majority Vote" on a public poll (for example) will not always be indicative of the path we have decided to take on a decision,
(especially for years old feedback polls, where many factors would have since changed).

There will always be a lot of crucial data that is only available to SW Staff (just as with any other website/service), that also factors heavily in the final decisions we make.

[sep]

We continue to look forward to incoming growth for SW, in the coming months. 👍

Many of our recent and in-development changes to this site, are being done, in part, to allow and facilitate such user growth,
as well as to provide a higher quality experience to all of our users, in the long-term.

Thanks for your continued feedback, support and patience! 🙂

Kind regards,
-SW Staff

More does not mean quality.

And saying that out opinion years ago is irrelevant is kinda uncaring.

All sweet words, but in a nutshell you're saying our opinions don't matter to what you have decided?
@OogieBoogie I echo and have your back

That was not what was said, by any SW staff, nor this post.
@Andrew its what was indicated by the parapraoh
.Please note that a "Majority Vote" on a public poll (for example) will not always be indicative of the path we have decided to take on a decision,

I summarised it.

And yes, they could have changed.

But we will never know unless you take a new poll will we?

And logic would dictate that this would be a reasonable course of action given the negative response indicated years ago.

I even did a mini trial og my own... And it seemed from its results, the negative response was even stronger.

Everything changes Andrew, I get that.

But it's the fact that you went and did something you already had negative feedback on.... And you never asked for current opinion on it before implementing it.

It's hard to see such an illogical decision as anything other than uncaring.... or arrogant.

The reality of it is... We DO feel ignored.

Many have said so.
@OogieBoogie Well stated ... excellent points ... proud of you!

Compliments on brevity and focus!

The very line that comes just before the segment you extracted, says the opposite of what you are saying:
we (SW Staff) DO definitely always consider user feedback, very strongly, in every decision we make.
Reading what I said, in the way I said it, by including the surrounding text, makes it clear that I did not say what you are claiming.

1) User Feedback is always taken seriously, and very strongly considered in our decision making process.

2) User Feedback is not the Lone Factor in coming to a final decision on a complex issue.

It is a "Major Factor"

Not "The Lone Factor"

Words mean little if they aren't followed up by actions that seem to back them up. I have never expected you to follow along with every single suggestion you get, or to 100% follow a majority vote, but the manner in which feedback has been followed up (or rather, not followed up) seems to indicate otherwise.

If I am to give you the benefit of the doubt here, I'd say it's not malicious but rather feels like you guys have been developers, staff, moderators and whatnot for so long that you've forgotten how thing are like on the ground floor, how it feels to be a regular user.

People have given you tons of feedback, and a lot of very valid points have been brought up. A very select few of the posts have been replied to, some of them with a good feedback from staff, some with absolutely ridiculous answers and deflections... but the remaining majority of actual legit feedback have gone unanswered by staff, not a notice in any way, completely ignored. Almost as if no one listened to it.

Ahh well, you're not really going to listen anyway. I suppose it is no use in trying to give further feedback, you have made that very clear.
@Andrew you know what it indicates?
Contradiction.

You say that you consider it, then you rationalise your minimising it.

All the fancy wording doesn't discount that, in the end - it doesn't matter what we say.

And if our opinion DID matter in any way, you would have asked.

One proves themselves by their actions, not their words.

And this was action without user consideration.
And was done, even though past consultation indicated a negative response.

Much like 'easier to ask forgiveness than ask permission'...
this has been 'easier to do by ourselves, than work with our members' .

I understand you have a higher vision and understanding than we do.

But we loved how you consulted us on things... We felt involved.
We may not be able to change what you want to do, but we can help it's transition, and even offer suggestions on how things can be presented.

Like maybe the DV, could have been called an 'opt out'... It's less negstive sounding, and puts more weight on the user of it, than who it's used on. Does the same thing, but has less emotional impact.
And maybe been given a less offensive emoji, 🤫 or 🛑.

Consultation also gives us time to acclimatise to new things.
And we loved that you used to do this.
It made us feel that you were part of our community, just as much as we were.

If you had asked members here two years ago.... Most would have said "they aren't 'on' SW, they are part of it"

We really missed your asking our ideas and input on this change.

Please think about it in future.
Even if we input only 5%, knowing that we can, and do, and seeing evidence of it means so much to us.

I have never seen a user defend their admin staff on any googled review of any other site...

... Execpt for SW.

Wouldn't it be great to know that your users have this much faith in you, to keep praising what you do?
@OogieBoogie Good reply
@PirateMonkeyCabinet you kind said similar things as me.

I'm feeling miffed about the lack of consultation, learning that it was going to happen, having at least input on it, and it's implementation.

I miss the fact that admin USED to do this.

And I echo what you said about being on 'the ground floor'

Admin used to feel like part of the user community.
Currently this makes them feel like dictators.... And I hate that feeling.

And I agree, I don't think it's malicious, or even deliberately arrogant.... But this time, it came across that way.

Wjen they set the bar so high before, we admired our admin for it.
And I want to.

I was proud of our admin compared to all other sites. 😊
