Why do Trolls do their trolling?

are they sad individuals or are they wannabe comedians?

They prioritize fun over anything else. Society loves conflict. It's kinda psychological. We want conflict in the mediums we watch and read, long for it from our heroes towards the villains, and are honestly bored without some level of conflict in most things. Even in the things that we do, it must be challenging to a specific degree to derive long term enjoyment. Also, there's an extra level of euphoria that comes in pulling the trigger ourselves. Now we are no longer watching conflict, we are in it!

TLDR: People just want a high and this gets them that high.
