Why do people think saying "that's your opinion" is some kind of meaningful statement?

Of course it's my opinion; what else would it be? People come here to share opinions. It's not rocket science.

And arguing over opinions is an exercise in futility. Adding facts like links, or polls can be helpful, though. Truly useless is dragging in religion, or trying to use it to shame another person ("judge not", a dumb idea if ever there was one").
