I often see people here talking about how they hate social media and don’t use it but isn’t SW a form of social media? 🤔

It is, though it’s different in that the primary purpose isn’t to connect with friends and family or follow celebrities and we aren’t required to use our real names (like, say, Quora). It’s marginal social media.
