How do you deal with a control freak at work?

The coworker that’s always telling you how you should do your job and attempts to correct what you say when really there’s nothing wrong with what you’re saying- you’re just not saying it the same exact way they would 🙄

When I was a greeter at Walmart there was one cashier who would accuse me of discriminating on people if I asked to see a receipt for large items not in bags or whatever. Didn’t matter if I asked to check15 white people receipts but one single person from the Middle East and he would imply that I was a bigot, and he would turn on his heel and go back to his cash register. And sometimes the reason for me doing so was because I was asked by another person in other depts. to check because of suspicious activities in their area. I got to the point of not even trying to explain to him because he didn’t want to hear why, and he came to the break room one day at lunch with red eyes crying and told someone “a tiger mauled him”. I think he hated older women because they were the ones that caught him making errors in ringing up things. He took his resentment out on me because I was a handy target. About 3 weeks after his little crying spell he came to me to brag that he got a better job in another city. I didn’t congratulate him or say I’d miss him, that would have been an outright lie, so I said nothing not even goodbye.
@cherokeepatti shoot I wouldn’t have said anything either! Like how would he even notice that if he was doing his job? Oh yeah- bc he wasn’t!
