How do you communicate effectively during in-person conversations?

Online or through text, if someone asks me a question or tells me something, I can come up with a quick, intellectual, and in-depth response. But in-person or even over the phone, my brain freezes up. It might have something to do with anxiety but how do I overcome this? I always have a lot to say but it just won’t come out.

I was taught to re-ask the question out loud, sounds weird, but it gives you a moment to think and clarify your thoughts. Over time you can do it silently. Like many things practice helps...
